Nestle has initiated a large-scale recall of SMA, BEBA, and NAN products from several European countries, including Austria, Germany, and the United Kingdom, due to a quality issue related to a supplied ingredient. Although no illnesses or associated symptoms have been reported, the company has conducted tests on the oils used in its nutritional products for infants.

The recall affects over 800 products from more than 10 Nestle factories and is considered the largest in the company's history. The UK Food Safety Agency has warned that the cereulide toxin, which can cause rapid symptoms, is stable at high temperatures, making it difficult to destroy through cooking. Nestle is working to minimize the impact on supply and has identified risks at a factory in the Netherlands. The company, a global leader in food and beverage products, has been active in Romania since 1995.
