A man from Kerepes, Hungary, was accused of theft after discovering a treasure in the garden of his former employer's house. In March 2023, while living in a rented property, he noticed a plastic bag sticking out of the ground, which contained withdrawn banknotes, gold jewelry, and documents in metal boxes.

The items belonged to the former owner of the property, who had buried them in 2011. The man took the boxes and managed to exchange the old banknotes for nearly 10 million forints, using the money for personal purchases. The prosecution has filed a request for conviction, and the confiscated goods will be returned to the heirs of the deceased victim.
