In light of the increase in incidents related to excessive alcohol consumption, the authorities in Mallorca and Ibiza have implemented strict measures to combat the anti-social behaviors of tourists. According to the 'Decree for Responsible Tourism' from 2024, drinking alcohol in public is prohibited, and violating the rules can result in fines of up to 3,000 euros.
The executive director of John Mason International, Simon Hood, has warned tourists to avoid drinking alcohol in public and excessive noise, as controls will be stricter during the summer season. The new regulations also limit the number of alcoholic drinks allowed in all-inclusive packages and restrict the sale of alcohol in stores between 9:30 PM and 8:00 AM. The aim of these measures is to maintain a balance between tourists and locals, ensuring that visitors can enjoy their vacation responsibly.
