The forces of the Russian Federation carried out a major airstrike last night on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, killing at least eight people and causing significant damage.
President Volodymyr Zelensky previously warned of a "massive" attack, and several neighborhoods were evacuated following the strikes. Kyiv's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, reported that some people remained trapped under the rubble of a collapsed multi-story building.
In the context of the threats, Poland activated fighter jets to protect its airspace, considering them preventive measures.
In Kyiv, explosions were heard and tracer fire was observed, while fires broke out following the attacks. Zelensky interrupted a visit to Dublin to respond to information about Moscow's attack plans.
