The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, announced on Thursday, on X, that he had discussions with the President of Lebanon, Joseph Aoun, and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, expressing to them 'France's full solidarity' regarding the Israeli strikes on Lebanon. Macron criticized Israel's attacks, emphasizing that they do not distinguish between military targets and civilians, and the death toll is alarming. He warned that Israeli military operations pose a direct threat to the maintenance of the ceasefire, insisting that Lebanon must benefit from its protection. Macron reaffirmed France's commitment to support the Lebanese authorities in maintaining sovereignty and disarming Hezbollah. He also expressed hope that the ceasefire will be respected by all parties involved, considering that the decision to accept a ceasefire is a crucial step towards negotiations in the Middle East.
