The United States Army has signed a contract with Lockheed Martin, worth up to $58.6 billion, for the production of Patriot PAC-3 MSE interceptor missiles, in the context of increasing demand from the conflicts in Iran and Ukraine.

The agreement transforms a $4.7 billion annual contract into a multi-year program for the fiscal years 2026-2032, ensuring long-term procurement of interceptors. The United States has supplied weapons to allies, which has raised concerns about stocks of air defense missiles. Lockheed Martin intends to triple the production of interceptors by the end of the decade, committing to invest between $8 and $9 billion to modernize production facilities.

Meanwhile, the Pentagon has concluded a similar contract with RTX to increase the production of Tomahawk missiles. Recent analyses suggest that U.S. stocks of Patriot and THAAD interceptors are limited, amplifying the need for rapid replenishment.
