The polls opened on Sunday at 8 a.m. local time (07:00 GMT) for the second round of local elections in France, an important vote ahead of the presidential elections in 2027.
Citizens from 1580 localities are called to vote, most of them already having local representatives designated following the first round, which took place last week.
In overseas territories, such as New Caledonia, Reunion, and Mayotte, the elections started earlier due to time zone differences.
These local elections are essential for determining the political future of the regions and for influencing future national elections.
