The Labubu plush toys, created by artist Kasing Lung, could be adapted for the big screen, with Sony Pictures acquiring the film rights. The project is in the early stages of development, without an associated producer or director, and the nature of the film (live-action or animation) remains unclear. Labubu has gained popularity in Southeast Asia since 2019, being sold through the Chinese retailer Pop Mart, and its success has been amplified by stars like Lisa from Blackpink and Rihanna, who have promoted the dolls as luxury accessories.

In the past year, Pop Mart has recorded a 350% increase in profits, and limited edition dolls have reached exorbitant prices on the secondary market. A Labubu film could include characters such as Labubu, Zimomo, Mokoko, and Tycoco. This adaptation reflects Hollywood's trend of turning toys into films, inspired by the success of the Barbie movie.
