King Harald of Norway, the oldest reigning monarch in Europe, was hospitalized on Tuesday in a hospital in Tenerife, Spain, due to an infection and dehydration, according to a statement from the royal palace.
The king was on a private vacation with Queen Sonja and is in good condition. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre expressed wishes for a speedy recovery for the king. The king's personal doctor will travel to Tenerife to support the local medical service.
Previously, in 2024, the king was hospitalized in Malaysia for an infection and received a temporary pacemaker, later being transferred to Norway for a permanent device.
