King Charles III of the United Kingdom has sent a message to mark Grenada's 50th anniversary of independence despite a cancer diagnosis.

The message was delivered to mark 50 years of independence for the Commonwealth country of Grenada. King Charles III said he could not be physically present at the event due to a cancer diagnosis and a canceled public agenda. The disease was diagnosed during treatment for a prostate problem in January.
