King Charles III was caught in torrential rain during festivities held in Antigua and Barbuda to mark the country’s 45th anniversary of independence. The incident took place as the monarch arrived at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium, where the official ceremonies were due to be held.
Charles raised his hands and repeatedly called for an umbrella, asking his attendants: “Where is the umbrella?” While the king waited in the rain, Queen Camilla quickly received a transparent dome umbrella and made her way toward the royal stand.
A few moments later, an umbrella was brought to the sovereign, and the festivities began, featuring a strong military theme. Protected from the rain, Charles inspected the military personnel present at the ceremony. The shower ended after approximately five minutes, allowing the program to continue.
Later, the king treated the situation with humor, telling those present: “It soaked me to the skin.” Queen Camilla also amused herself over the incident. The moment attracted attention during the official visit dedicated to the anniversary of the Caribbean state’s independence.
