The Jordanian army has begun recruiting young people after the reintroduction of mandatory military service, suspended since 1992. The recruitment procedures will take place over 10 days, and the first batch of 2,000 recruits will start training at the Shuwayr camp on February 1, with the training program lasting three months. Annually, 6,000 young people will be selected, divided into three batches, through an electronic lottery, ensuring fair representation from all governorates. The program will gradually be expanded to 10,000 participants annually. According to the new legislation, failure to report for military service will result in prison sentences ranging from three months to one year. Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II emphasized the importance of training young people to defend their country, and the parliament approved the necessary legislation in November.
