The American Vice President JD Vance arrived early Sunday morning at the Emmen airbase in Switzerland for discussions with the Iranian delegation, which arrived Saturday evening.
The Iranian delegation is led by chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of Parliament, and also includes Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, as well as the Governor of the Central Bank, Abdolnaser Hemmati. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, whose mediation was essential for the agreement on June 17, is also heading to Switzerland. The discussions are scheduled to last several days and will take place in a luxury hotel on Bürgenstock, overlooking Lake Lucerne.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry has confirmed that "technical" discussions will take place on Sunday between the Iranian and American delegations. JD Vance stated, before leaving the United States Saturday evening, that he hopes for progress on the nuclear file and regarding the ceasefire in Lebanon, which are the main topics of the negotiations.
