Vice President of the United States, J.D. Vance, said in an interview with Reuters that Iran must significantly reduce its uranium enrichment capacity in order to meet Washington’s demands and allow an end to the war between the two countries.
The statement comes after seven months of conflict and amid negotiations between the United States and Iran. Vance specified that reducing enrichment capacity is one of the essential conditions put forward by the US administration.
However, the US vice president acknowledged that Washington does not know with certainty how decisions are made in Tehran during the negotiations. Uncertainty regarding Iran’s decision-making mechanism complicates diplomatic efforts and the assessment of the true position of the authorities in Tehran.
According to J.D. Vance, any potential agreement should address American demands regarding Iran’s nuclear program and create the conditions for ending the conflict.
