Jack Doohan, former Formula 1 driver for Alpine, reported in the Netflix documentary 'Drive To Survive' that he received death threats before the Miami Grand Prix, which created a suffocating atmosphere around his last race.
He mentioned that he received six or seven threatening emails, including messages stating that his limbs would be cut off if he competed. Doohan also described an incident where he saw three armed men and had to call the police to handle the situation. Although he did not provide details on how the incident was resolved, he emphasized the negative impact these threats had on him and his family. After being replaced by Franco Colapinto, Doohan reported online abuse received, suggesting that Argentine fans may have been responsible. In the previous season, both Alpine drivers failed to score points, and the team finished last in the constructors' championship.
