Torrential rains, strong winds, and high waves have flooded coastal areas, destroying infrastructure and causing evacuations. Although the damages in Sicily amount to 740 million euros, the island's governor warned that the final sum could be double. The government led by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni initially allocated 100 million euros for immediate needs and will adopt additional measures for infrastructure restoration.

Extreme weather phenomena have become more frequent in Italy, but civil protection alerts have helped prevent deaths and serious injuries among locals.
