The Israeli army announced on Wednesday that it intends to attack military infrastructure of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, urging the population of the villages of Deir Kifa and Chahour to evacuate from areas adjacent to the targeted buildings. Colonel Avichay Adraee, the army's spokesperson, stated that the attacks are a response to Hezbollah's attempts to re-establish itself in the region.
Although a ceasefire was declared in November 2024, Israel continues to carry out regular attacks in Lebanon, with the tacit approval of the United States, targeting members and facilities of Hezbollah. The movement, allied with Iran, has been weakened by the recent conflict with Israel, and Washington is pressuring Lebanese authorities to disarm it, a request that Hezbollah rejects.
