The United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced on Tuesday that two of their oil tankers, Mombasa and al-Bahiyah, were attacked by Iranian cruise missiles in the Strait of Hormuz, in Omani territorial waters. The attack resulted in the death of an Indian sailor and injured eight others, four of whom were seriously hurt. The UAE Ministry of Defense condemned this attack, considering it a serious violation of international law and threatened retaliation.
Although maritime traffic resumed after a memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran, Iran warned that it would not allow a return to the previous situation, threatening vessels that attempt to circumvent authorized routes. U.S. President Donald Trump announced the reinstatement of the blockade on Iranian ports and the intention to impose tariffs on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
