Ebrahim Azizi, the chairman of the parliamentary committee for national security in Iran, warned that Tehran will consider any American interference in the Strait of Hormuz as a violation of the ceasefire in effect. The statement was made on Monday, in the context of American President Donald Trump announcing an operation to escort blocked ships in the Gulf.

Trump communicated on his platform Truth Social that the U.S. Navy will begin escorting ships from foreign countries through the Strait of Hormuz, ensuring that they will be guided safely. This initiative, called Project Freedom, was scheduled to start on Monday morning, Middle East time. Iran reacted firmly, emphasizing that any American action under the new maritime regime will be considered a provocation.
