Iran declared on Saturday that it has reimposed strict control over the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway, in response to the blockade imposed by the United States on Iranian ports. The announcement was made by Lieutenant Colonel Ebrahim Zolfagari, spokesman for the Central Headquarters Khatam al-Anbiya, who emphasized that the strait is now under strict management and control by the Armed Forces.
This decision comes a day after Iranian authorities communicated that the strait had been reopened, thus highlighting the increasing tensions in the region. Control over this maritime route is crucial, considering that a large portion of global oil transport passes through this area.
