Pakistan has sent Iran a peace proposal from the United States, and either Pakistan or Turkey could be venues for discussions aimed at de-escalating the war in the Gulf, a senior Iranian official said Wednesday to Reuters.

The comments, made on condition of anonymity, were among the rare signs that Tehran might consider diplomatic proposals, despite publicly insisting that no discussions are underway and that it will not reach any agreement with President Donald Trump's administration.

Additionally, Pakistani officials reportedly confirmed to the Associated Press that Iran has received the 15-point plan developed by Donald Trump for a ceasefire in the Middle East.

The document includes lifting sanctions, nuclear cooperation for civilian purposes, reducing Iran's nuclear program, monitoring by the International Atomic Energy Agency, and limiting the missile program.

It also proposes reopening the Strait of Hormuz and restrictions on support for armed groups.

Egyptian and Pakistani officials are pushing for direct discussions between Iran and the U.S., possibly on Friday in Pakistan.

Donald Trump said that negotiations are underway, but Iranian officials denied that they are in discussions with the U.S., calling the proposal a "wish list".
