Abbas Araghchi, the Iranian Foreign Minister, stated that there are chances of reaching a diplomatic solution within the negotiations with the USA, planning a meeting on February 26 in Geneva. He emphasized that Iran is working on the elements of an agreement and a preliminary version of the text.
Although the negotiations focus exclusively on the nuclear issue, Araghchi stated that Iran has the right to defend itself against aggression, mentioning that Iranian missiles cannot reach American territory, suggesting that an alternative solution could target American bases in the region.
Despite these discussions, sources indicate a higher likelihood of military escalation rather than diplomatic solutions, in the context of rising tensions between the USA and Iran.
The Iranian president reaffirmed that Iran will not yield to international pressures in the nuclear negotiations.
