From April 24 to 29, nearly 50 countries will gather in Santa Marta, Colombia, for a summit dedicated to accelerating the transition away from fossil fuels. The conference, co-organized by Colombia and the Netherlands, will bring together ministers, subnational governments, academics, and civil society groups to discuss a just and equitable transition. The summit reflects growing frustration with the UN climate negotiations, which have not directly addressed fossil fuel production, the main cause of global warming.
