The inflation rate in the euro area reached 2.1% in August 2025, due to rising food and service prices, while core inflation remained steady at 2.3%.

According to Eurostat estimates, the annual inflation in the euro area rose from 2% in July to 2.1% in August 2025, with a core inflation remaining steady at 2.3%. The increase in inflation is due to a 3.2% rise in food prices and a 3.1% increase in service tariffs, while energy prices decreased by 1.9%. Romania had the highest inflation in the EU, at 6.6% in July. The BNR revised its inflation forecast for the end of 2025 to 8.8%, anticipating a peak of 9.6-9.7% in September.
