The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) has announced the activation of the highest level of intervention in response to the Ebola epidemic in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), which has led to 131 deaths. Anne Archer, the director of the clinical care department at IFRC, stated that the organization will intensify activities by deploying specialized public health teams and medical experts to the affected areas. Additionally, IFRC is transporting safe burial kits to the affected regions.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the epidemic a public health emergency of international concern, convening an emergency committee to discuss the crisis. Although the DRC has experience in managing epidemics, there is no vaccine or specific treatment for the current strain. IFRC emphasizes the importance of early detection and community involvement to control the epidemic, highlighting the need for strong coordination and sustainable international support.
