Hungary has announced the construction of a military base in Szolnok, dedicated to special operations, considered the most advanced structure of the Hungarian Army. The Minister of Defense, Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky, emphasized the importance of this investment, which amounts to 59 billion forints (approximately 156 million euros), mentioning that the funds have been allocated for the development of the Hungarian armed forces, not for external conflicts.
The barracks will host the regional command of special operations and will facilitate multinational collaboration with allies from Croatia, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Austria. General Gábor Böröndi, the Chief of Staff of the Hungarian Army, stated that the base will include high-tech equipment, drones, and special communication systems, ensuring the highest standards of security and training. This initiative is part of a broader effort to build an independent and modern armed force in Hungary.
