The Greek Minister of Defense, Nikos Dendias, stated that the Ukrainian naval drone discovered near the island of Lefkada represents "a serious problem" and will be discussed at the EU Defense Ministers' meeting in Brussels, reports The Guardian.

The device, identified as a MAGURA-type maritime drone, was found by a fisherman and is believed to have had explosives on board.

The Greek authorities are investigating how the drone reached Greece's territorial waters and whether it posed a risk to navigation in the area. The incident has generated political reactions in Athens and concerns regarding the spillover effects of the war in Ukraine into the eastern Mediterranean.
