The government in Berlin intends to order attack drones worth 536 million euros from two German companies, Helsing and Stark Defence, as part of the rearmament efforts following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. According to information published by the magazine Der Spiegel, these kamikaze drones are capable of flying over targeted areas and self-destructing to hit their targets. The acquisition is part of a broader framework agreement, with a total cost of 4.3 billion euros.

The signing of the contracts, which will take place over a period of seven years, requires the approval of the parliamentary budget committee. The drones will initially support the 45th Tank Brigade, deployed in Lithuania, and deliveries are scheduled to begin no later than the first part of 2027.
