The German Meteorological Service is forecasting the hottest day of the year on Wednesday, with temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius. On Tuesday, it was already 37.8 degrees in Kitzingen, Bavaria. Temperatures will range between 34 and 38 degrees in most parts of the country and the risk of forest fires will increase. In addition, severe thunderstorms are expected in the south and northwest, with violent wind gusts and heavy downpours. The absolute record high in Germany is 41.2 degrees but is not expected to be broken.
