Meteorologists from ANM issued two yellow heat alerts on Monday, valid in the counties of Caraș-Severin, Mehedinți, Dolj, Olt, Teleorman, Giurgiu, Ilfov, and the municipality of Bucharest, until Tuesday evening at 10:00 PM.
In these areas, maximum temperatures will reach values of 35-36 degrees, generating heat and thermal discomfort. A second heat alert will come into effect on Tuesday, August 25, with maximum temperatures of 35-37 degrees.
At the same time, ANM issued a notification of atmospheric instability, valid until August 27, with rain and storms expected across the country.
Instability manifestations will be more intense in the center, south, and east of the country, with moderate showers, lightning strikes, and wind intensifications. The rains will be torrential, and in some areas, water quantities will exceed 35-40 l/m². The weather will be warm, hot in the south and southwest, with high thermal discomfort.
