In a recent interview, retired General Ben Hodges, the former commander of the U.S. Army in Europe, emphasized that Europe is slowly waking up to the reality that it cannot count on the United States as a reliable partner. He criticized the Trump administration's approach to the War in Ukraine, deeming it destined for failure, as it treated the conflict as a "vast real estate operation."

Hodges highlighted that Washington's current priorities place Europe fourth, behind the Western Hemisphere, Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East. He also warned of the risks of new waves of refugees if Ukraine is forced to conclude an unfavorable agreement.

However, the general expressed optimism, stating that Ukraine and Europe have the necessary resources to stop Russia, emphasizing that there is no reason to believe that Ukraine will be defeated.
