France and other European states will be represented at the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine scheduled for November 10 and 11 in Abu Dhabi, mediated by the United States. The announcement was made by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, who specified that Paris will participate in the discussions, without yet saying who will represent France.
The trilateral meeting will bring together delegations from Russia, Ukraine, and the United States for talks on ending the war launched by Moscow, postwar security agreements, and reducing tensions.
Russia contests European participation. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that Europeans “have no place at the negotiating table” and accused London and Paris of supporting the continuation of the confrontation with Russia.
At the same time, the Coalition of the Willing, made up of 37 states, will conduct joint military exercises from November 9 to 22 in Nowa Dęba, southeastern Poland. The exercises are aimed at preparing for a possible stabilization mission in Ukraine.
