The two major European economies, France and Germany, are urging the European Union to include measures against Russian oil companies such as Lukoil in the next sanctions package. This package, which would be the 19th, also targets Russian banks, energy trade, and the oil fleet used by Russia. The EU intends to collaborate with the US for the implementation of the sanctions, while several member states, including Hungary, could pose an obstacle to this effort. Additionally, there are discussions about further restrictions to prevent Russia from circumventing existing sanctions.
