France becomes the first country in the European Union to open a general consulate in Greenland, reaffirming its commitment to Denmark's territorial integrity. The new French consul general, Jean-Noel Poirier, will initially aim to listen to the needs of Greenlanders and promote scientific and cultural initiatives.
