A NATO member, Finland has over 50,000 bunkers capable of sheltering all 5.5 million residents in case of war. This infrastructure has been developed since the Winter War of 1939/40, when the Red Army invaded the country. One of the largest bunkers is located 20 meters below Helsinki and can accommodate 6,000 people, being prepared even for nuclear attacks. The law requires that all large buildings have shelters, and Helsinki has more shelter places than residents.
In times of peace, the bunkers are used for various activities, such as sports or parking. Finland has also implemented an organization system for emergency situations, including instructions for citizens to prepare with supplies for 72 hours. Measures are also taken against disinformation, ensuring that the population is well-informed and prepared.
