A tragic incident occurred in Texas, where Ruben Ray Martinez, a 23-year-old young man, was fatally shot by a federal immigration agent on March 15, 2025. Details about the involvement of ICE agents were made public only now, nearly a year after the event, sparking criticism regarding the lack of transparency from the authorities. Martinez was shot during a nighttime intervention following a traffic accident, when a vehicle containing two American citizens was stopped by agents.

After the driver accelerated, an agent fired several shots, fatally hitting Martinez. The victim's mother learned about the agents' involvement from the press and is demanding accountability, while the family's lawyers are calling for an independent investigation. The case is still active, and the investigation is being coordinated by the Texas Rangers. This is one of the six known fatal incidents involving federal immigration agents during the Trump administration.
