At least 24 people have died and over 50 have been injured on Sunday, following an explosion targeting a train carrying military personnel in the Balochistan province of southwestern Pakistan.

A senior official announced that a terrorist attack occurred in the provincial capital Quetta, Pakistan, at the time when a military train, transporting military personnel and their families, was heading to Peshawar. A vehicle loaded with explosives struck a carriage of the train, causing a powerful explosion that led to the partial derailment of the train and the destruction of several nearby vehicles. Additionally, the windows of buildings in the area were shattered due to the blast. The military personnel were traveling to participate in the upcoming Eid celebration, which is set to begin on Tuesday.

Balochistan, the largest province of Pakistan, is affected by a separatist insurgency, and the Balochistan Liberation Army is said to have claimed responsibility for the attack, accusing the central authorities of exploiting resources without benefits for the locals.
