The buildings near the train station in the city of Treuchtlingen, Bavaria, were evacuated on Thursday as a precautionary measure after police announced the discovery of a suspicious object on the tracks that could contain explosives. Investigators responded quickly, and a technician identified the object on the railway bed.
It was examined with X-rays and lifted with the help of a robot to allow for further investigation. Although the police determined that the object was not an explosive, activities at the scene continued.
The closure of roads and railways affected regional services, with trains being diverted or terminating their journeys early. Police advised citizens to avoid the area and use alternative routes, while bus and taxi services were organized to facilitate transportation.
