A group of European countries, led by the United Kingdom and Germany, is discussing the establishment of a NATO military presence in Greenland, in response to threats from the Trump administration regarding control over Danish territory. Germany will propose a joint NATO mission, named 'Arctic Sentry', to protect the Arctic region, considering the rivalries with Russia and China. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer emphasized the importance of increasing presence in the Far North, contacting European leaders to discuss strategy. In this context, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul will address the issue of Greenland in a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Although Trump has stated that the U.S. will 'buy' Greenland, European officials are seeking to demonstrate that the security of the region is under NATO's control.
