The European Commission has welcomed Poland's plan to abandon the policies of the former nationalist government that led to the freezing of EU funds.

The Law and Justice Party has implemented judicial reforms criticized by the European Commission, which has blocked funds for Poland. Poland's new prime minister, Donald Tusk, unveiled a plan to restore the independence of the judiciary in order to free up funds. The plan has received positive reactions from some EU commissioners, but faces opposition from the previous ruling party.
