Eric Bauza, the Canadian actor of Filipino descent known for voicing characters from Looney Tunes, died suddenly at his home on Sunday. His family announced his death on Instagram, and the cause was attributed to hypertensive cardiovascular disease, according to Variety.
Bauza voiced characters including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Elmer Fudd, Foghorn Leghorn and Road Runner. In 2021, he voiced several Looney Tunes characters in the film Space Jam: A New Legacy, and later reprised his roles in Coyote vs. Acme.
The actor also voiced General Toad in the films The Super Mario Bros. Movie, released in 2023, and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Between 2022 and 2025, Bauza won three Emmy Awards for outstanding voice performance in television series.
Born in Ontario, Bauza said he grew up admiring the Looney Tunes characters and imitating their voices. He said the series transcends language and cultural barriers. Representatives of Warner Bros. Television Group described him as a unique actor who brought joy to millions of people and continued the legacy of the legendary Mel Blanc.
