Authorities confirmed that the attacker, the son of a former police inspector, was killed at the scene. Another incident took place in Sanliurfa province, where a former student opened fire in his old school before committing suicide. Erdogan emphasized that penalties for gun owners who do not comply with safety regulations will be tightened, especially in cases where children have access to them. These rare attacks in Turkey have raised public concern, and Erdogan mentioned that the authors' aim is often to terrorize society.
