Turkey's President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, announced on Monday that the government will implement radical measures, including strict restrictions on gun ownership, following two devastating armed attacks in schools. These incidents, which occurred last week, resulted in the deaths of eight students aged between 10 and 11 years and a teacher, following an attack carried out by a 14-year-old student in Kahramanmaras province. Authorities confirmed that the attacker, the son of a former police inspector, was killed at the scene. Another incident took place in Sanliurfa province, where a former student opened fire in his old school before committing suicide. Erdogan emphasized that penalties for gun owners who do not comply with safety regulations will be tightened, especially in cases where children have access to them. These rare attacks in Turkey have raised public concern, and Erdogan mentioned that the authors' aim is often to terrorize society.
