A group of survivors of Jeffrey Epstein has filed a class action lawsuit against the Trump administration and Google, accusing them of disclosing personal information following the publication of files related to Epstein. The complaint claims that the U.S. Department of Justice chose to prioritize the rapid disclosure of information at the expense of the privacy protection of the survivors, exposing approximately 100 victims. Although the information was later removed, Google continues to republish it, causing additional trauma to the survivors, who receive threats and harassment.
The complaint seeks damages of at least $1,000 for each survivor and punitive damages against Google, asking the court to order the immediate removal of personal information. Attorneys state that Google has the technological capability to remove the content but refuses to do so, demonstrating irresponsible conduct. Survivors accuse the Department of Justice of violating the Privacy Act of 1974 and bring civil claims against Google for violating California's unfair competition law and invasion of privacy. Attorney Julie Erickson stated that no one should have to live in fear of being publicly exposed for the traumas they have suffered.
