Authorities in northern Spain have declared an environmental emergency after a ship lost 25 tons of plastic pellets at sea.

Plastic pellets, used to make various goods, fell off a cargo ship during a storm. As a result of the incident, the regions of Asturias and Galicia may ask the central government for help to clean up the beaches.
