Enrique Marquez, arrested in January 2025, was seen in a video addressing his wife, expressing his relief that "everything is over." The releases occurred shortly after Maduro was captured by the United States in a military operation on Venezuelan territory. Marquez, at the age of 62, had formally registered for the presidential elections in July 2024, having the role of representing the opposition in case Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia's candidacy was rejected. Before his arrest, Marquez fought against Maduro's reelection, which the opposition and part of the international community consider fraudulent. Also, lawyer Rocio San Miguel, arrested in February 2024, was recently released as well.
