The French company EDF announced the shutdown of the reactors at the Flamanville Nuclear Power Plant, including the EPR reactor, due to the Goretti storm, which affected Normandy with violent gusts of wind. Production units 1 and 3 were disconnected according to safety procedures, while unit 2 was already shut down for scheduled maintenance. Reactor 1 was reduced to 50% power, and the EPR to 55%, both being isolated from the electrical grid to prevent damage. EDF teams are mobilized to assess the situation, and essential employees are present on-site, while the rest of the staff is working remotely due to the weather conditions.
