The death toll from the earthquakes in Venezuela has exceeded 3,000 deaths / UN estimates up to 50,000 missing.

On June 24, Venezuela was struck by two devastating earthquakes, and the death toll continues to rise. According to a recent report from authorities in Caracas, at least 3,342 people have lost their lives, and 16,740 have been injured, a significant increase compared to 2,954 deaths reported the day before.

The government has not provided information about the number of missing persons, but the United Nations estimates that they could be between 10,000 and 50,000. The tragedy is evident in cemeteries, where AFP journalists observed over 150 unidentified victims buried in individual graves at the La Esperanza cemetery in La Guaira. Authorities continue to prepare new burials, and gravediggers, assisted by excavators, are digging trenches for the remains recovered from under the rubble.
