The authorities in Venezuela have reported a tragic toll of two earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5, which occurred on Wednesday, resulting in 1,430 deaths and over 3,200 injuries.

The President of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, stated that thousands of people are still considered trapped under the rubble, and hopes of finding survivors are rapidly diminishing.

The earthquakes were followed by 430 aftershocks, and the most significant destruction was recorded in the state of La Guaira and in the capital Caracas, where entire buildings collapsed.

The fate of tens of thousands of people remains uncertain, with electricity and mobile phone services still non-functional. An unofficial online platform has listed over 55,000 missing persons, highlighting the severity of the situation.
