Drought affected 50% of Europe and the Mediterranean region by the beginning of June 2025, a record for this period. Although the level of drought has slightly decreased since May, the eastern and northern regions of Europe are the most affected. Countries such as Luxembourg, Armenia and Northern Cyprus have reported more than 90% of their land affected. The UK is facing severe water problems, while Belgium, Ukraine and Belarus are also affected. Southern Europe, including Spain and Portugal, had less impact. Romania faces scorching temperatures, with weather warnings issued.
