A series of drone attacks on the energy infrastructure in western Libya has generated a state of alert among the authorities.

The most serious incident occurred at the Zawiya oil complex, where a tank containing 4.5 million liters of gasoline caught fire and collapsed.

The National Oil Corporation of Libya warned that if the attacks continue, it may declare a "force majeure" and completely halt refinery operations.

In recent days, several strategic targets have been hit, including a desalination plant, affecting the water supply to localities in the area.

The authorities have not yet identified the perpetrators of the attacks, and Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah has convened a meeting to discuss the security situation.

Libya remains divided between two power centers, and the energy sector is essential for the country's economy, being constantly affected by political and military conflicts.
